COVID-19 Updates

With the move to Phase 5, the B.R. Ryall YMCA made some modifications (outlined below) to our COVID facility guidelines. As always, the safety of our members, program participants and staff will remain our top priority.

Temperature Checks
Temperature checks are no longer be required. Please self-monitor and do not come to the Y if you have a fever, are not feeling well or have been in contact with someone who was diagnosed with COVID in the last 14 days.

Mask Wearing
As of Friday, July 30, the DuPage County Health Department strongly endorses the updated CDC masking guidance which recommends everyone, including fully vaccinated individuals, wear a mask in public indoor settings in areas with substantial and high transmission. DuPage County COVID-19 transmission rates are currently  “substantial” per the CDC. Masks are strongly recommended when indoors at the B.R. Ryall YMCA.

If you are fully vaccinated, it is your choice whether to wear a mask in the Y–except if in the presence of children and unable to social distance. As we have 200 children (who are not eligible to be vaccinated) in our facility each day for child care and camps, we ask everyone (even those who are vaccinated) to wear a mask if in close proximity to children and unable to social distance.

If you are not vaccinated, please wear a mask at all times during your visit to the Y.

Wellness Center
Reservations are not required for the Wellness Center.

Members ages 11-14 may utilize the Wellness Center and track if they have completed the Teen Start training. Click here to request a Teen Start orientation. As a reminder, members ages 11-14 may not enter the free weight room.

To ensure social distancing, we will keep equipment spaced at least six feet apart. Please also note that we are continuing to keep our ventilation units set to increase the intake of outside air and are utilizing MERV13 filters—proven to reduce exposure to airborne COVID-19.

Cleaning
Please continue to pick up a spray bottle on your way into the building and clean all equipment and surfaces before and after use.

Staff will continue to clean equipment and high touch surfaces throughout the day, and we ask for your continued support in our efforts by cleaning as well before and after contact. In addition, our facilities team will continue to deep clean and sanitize nightly using the Clorox 360 electrostatic sprayer, which has an EPA-registered kill claim against COVID-19 and is on the EPA’s list N of Disinfectants for Use Against COVID-19.

Sauna/Steam Room/Whirlpool
Saunas, steam rooms and whirlpools are open for adult members.

Pool
For lap swimming, lanes 1, 2 and 3 are open for individual reservations; lanes 4 and 5 are shared lanes that allow for two different people to make a reservation to swim at the same time–sharing the lane.

Reservations are not required for family open swim on Saturdays from 12:45-2:45 p.m.

Furniture
A limited amount of seating will be placed throughout the facility. We are in the process of exploring options for new furniture with surfaces that can easily be cleaned and sanitized.

Coffee
We are looking into options to resume coffee service and will provide updates once available.

Unattended Children
Children must be at least age 11 to be in the building alone/unattended–with the exception of children who are enrolled in a program (camp, swim team, etc.). Otherwise children age 10 and younger must be accompanied by an adult to visit the Y.

Guests
Nationwide YMCA members from other Ys and guests of Y members will be permitted in the facility. Guests are limited to three visits per calendar year. Members may bring no more than four guests per visit.

Thank you
We are grateful for your patience and cooperation. It is only with your support that we have been able to keep our facility, members, staff and program participants safe. Thank you!
